PRE-COMPRESSED JACK

[Category : - Pneumatic Accessories]
[Viewed 1886 times]

ABSTRACT
A Pre-Compressed Jack is a lifting jack with a pressurised chamber which stores pressurized air. This chamber can be filled at any fuelling station with the help of the air compressor used to fill tyres. This pressurized air can be used anytime to rise the jack. When we have finished using the jack we can lower the jack by releasing the air in the pressurized chamber. The pressurised chamber can be filled again at any fuelling station with the help of the air compressor used to fill tyres.
The advantage here is that no compressor is required while operating the jack and it works without tiresome effort.

PRE-COMPRESSED JACK

This invention relates to improvement in automobile lifting jacks.
A very common use for lifting jacks is while changing a flat tyre of a vehicle. There are a variety of jacks that are available for this purpose which include manually operated mechanical jacks as well as motorised hydraulic jacks which have compressors/pumps to generate the pressure required to lift the heavy load (in this case the vehicle) with ease. The disadvantages of these two available jacks are as follows:
1. In case of manually operated mechanical jacks, they are cumbersome and tiresome to operate.
2. The motorised / hydraulic jacks are expensive because of their air pump / compressors / motors. Also since they have moving parts they require regular maintenance and in case of applications such as changing a flat tyre which occur very rarely, the pump of the jack may not work since it has not been maintained or used for a long time.
These problems are overcome by the Pre-Compressed Jack. The Pre-Compressed Jack takes the advantage of the rarity of the occasion to use a lifting jack. For example in case of changing a flat tyres it occurs unexpectedly and the requirement of the jack is urgent.
The Pre-Compressed Jack would have a ‘Compression Chamber’ which is an energy reservoir which stores pressurized air. The ’Compression Chamber’ can initially be ‘charged’ or pressurized with air using a simple pump/air compressor available at any gas station (which is generally used for filling tyres). Once charged the ‘Compression Chamber’ can be stored for as long a duration as required.
When the time comes to use the jack, it is placed beneath the weight (like in the case of a flat tyre, a car) and a nob (called the ‘Mechanical Control Element’ here) can be turned to the next position which would start releasing the air stored in the ‘Compression Chamber’ to another chamber (the ‘Expansion Chamber’). This ‘Expansion Chamber’ has a movable element (called the ‘Piston’) which rises when the ‘Expansion Chamber’ is pressurized and consequently it would lift the weight. When the desired height is reached the earlier stated nob or the ‘Mechanical Control Element’ can be turned again to the next position to stop the release of the pressurized air into the ‘Expansion Chamber’ also stopping the ‘Piston’ from raising further. After the desired operation is done on the weight the ‘Mechanical Control Element’ can be turned further to a third position which will start releasing the pressurized air in the ‘Expansion Chamber’ into the atmosphere. The piston will have a spring element which would bring it back to the initial lower position when the pressure in the ‘Expansion Chamber’ is released. Here you can observe that the jack operates fully automatically without application of tiresome work and also without the use of any motorized component.
At a later date when the user has time and when it is convenient for him/her the ‘Compression Chamber’ of the Pre-Compressed Jack can be pressurized again at a fuelling station with an air compressor just like before while the flat tyre is being mended.

Advantages of the Pre-Compressed Jack over other Jacks:
1) No Pump / Motor required during the operation. Also the user need not be provided with a pump / motor at all. The Tyre filling stations at petrol pumps can be used as a source. Hence more economical and also almost zero maintenance required compared to Hydraulic Jacks with pumps.
2) No Power source required during operation (Unlike Hydraulic Jacks with Pumps / motors which require a source of power). Hence easy and handy to use.
3) Pressure in the ‘Compression Chamber’ can also be used to fill the tyre of the vehicle after changing the flat tyre. Hence it will act as a multifunction emergency kit for a vehicle.
4) No Manual Work required for operating the Jack.

Financial information

I am currently looking for someone interested in Investing in helping me pay for making a prototype of the Patented (Applied) Pre Compressed Jack.

Only after the prototype is built will it be possible to sell the Idea. I have contacted a few prototype builders and got a quote of around $ 20k (for both design and building the prototype) . I am ready to share a percentage of the patent with someone ready to invest.

I ultimately plan to sell the patent completely to automobile manufacturers who want to provide the said jack along with their cars. Investors interested in buying the Patent (Applied) are also welcome to contact me.
