A process for producing a natural rubber nanocomposite containing exfoliated organically modified montmorillonite and maleic anhydride grafted elastomer in a dispersion of natural rubber and reinforcing filler/inert filler wherein the cured nanocomposite has improved mechanical properties compared to conventional rubber compound containing a mixture of the reinforcing filler, carbon black and the inert filler, CaCO3.
Financial informationThe innovation was carried out in collaboration with one of the world's largest tyre manufacturers. The patent was not previously sold and free to license. We are open to any form of technology transfer mechanism.
The innovation has a huge market potential especially in solid rubber tyre manufacturing industry, rubber mount production, shock absorbers, and most importantly as a mechanism of reducing the carbon black content which leads to green manufacturing.
