Off-Road Camper Trailer
[Category : - Camping and Outdoors ]
[Viewed 2730 times]
This design is for a trailer suitable for trail roads with on-board kitchen and bed.
With the wheel spacing at 72 ins. [1.8 m.] allows the wheels to follow common tracks and avoid obstacles. There are no under floor projections that can be damaged by poor road conditions. The distance between the wheels and the rearmost part of the chassis 52 ins. [1.32 m] and a ground clearance of 20 ins. [0.5 m.] allows an exit angle of 22 degrees.
To maintain optimum tow hitch weight, two 26.4 gal. [100 liter.] water tanks, two 100 amp/hour sealed batteries and the spare tire are stored in a locker above wheels. The trailer is self-sufficient for seven days in a ‘free’ camping area without services.
Length is 142 ins. [ 3.6 m.]. Height 98 ins. [2.5 m.] Under Cover Area 88 sq. ft. [8.2sq. m.]
A system of seven vertically hinged aluminum foam sandwich panels fold flat against the rear of the cabin in the transport mode, three open to form two sides and a roof of an annex with a separate front canvas panel, the remainder form two walls, roof and door a bathroom annex. The gap between the lowest part of each panel and the ground is enclosed with a secondary drop down panel to make the sides weatherproof and to support the panels.
Access to a cabin area is via fold down steps on the “A” frame where a hinged three panel door opens as the curved roof section is raised by gas lift struts, pulling into place side panels. Inside are two 40 in. [1.0 m.] long kitchen benches, one has a 21 gal.[80 liter] cabinet refrigerator, a 2.6 gal.[10 liter ] frig/freezer, and a sink while on the other bench is provided a propane cook top/griller, microwave oven and storage, and a propane hot water unit above.
In the transport mode the queen bed is stored at an angle within the cabin and when in the camping mode it is lowered horizontally so that it partly projects outside of the trailer, at the same time pulling a weatherproof canvas canopy over the extended portion of the bed. When the bed is in the travel position, the lower portion forms a seat while the angled section forms a backrest. Either side of the cabin, lift up kitchen benches provide tables in front of the seat.
A TV with a hinge action stored against the wall over the kitchen bench can be pivoted so that the screen can be seen from the bed or through the open window to the annex.
A shower tray and spare tire stored in the rear is positioned on the floor of the annex and the inbuilt sump pump power lead and drain hose are connected into the adjacent storage locker that also stores a chemical toilet, taps and a shower hose that clips onto the wall above.
Above the kitchen benches on either side of the cabin are sliding windows.
Copies of working drawing, patent documents and photos are available to genuine buyers.
