IMPROVED DOMESTIC WHEELIE BIN STAND

The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me:

1.

IMPROVED DOMESTIC WHEELIE BIN STAND

Suitable for Garbage, Recycle or Organic Green Waste:

The inherent problem of wheelie bins spilling their contents, has led to the recent introduction of the Wheelie Mate wheelie bin stabilising stand. This invention has been devised to provide an improved stabilising wheelie bin stand.
The new improved wheelie bin stand will stabilise the bin and stop the bin lids from fully opening. This will eliminate bins from tipping over and spilling the contents, thus preventing health, safety and environmental problems.
The stand is light weight, portable and easily installed. The stand is placed out on the roadside on collection day it is then removed on retrieval of the bin after it is emptied.

The improved wheelie bin stand in accordance with this invention comprises of a stand with the following:

New flexible section
Improved hook section
New locking device
New optional, stand carrying and storage holder

Flexible Section:

This firm flexible section near the mid section of the stand; greatly assists the loading and unloading of the wheelie bin to the stand hook by the householder. The hook section may be sprung down to the bin handle to be inserted, with handle inserted, the stand may be pulled back to the upright position, thus retaining the bin in the correct secure position.
The flexible section of the stand also prevents damage to the stand by the collection vehicle.

The Hook Section:

The hook section is of such dimensions and located in such a position on the top section of the stand so as to allow easy removal and replacement by the collection vehicle.

Locking Device:

The stand has a locking device at the base of the stand which locks the stand to the sleeve that is permanently fixed into the ground at the collection site. The stand has an added tongue welded to the bin size adjustment collar, this tongue has a hole through it. The sleeve has a hinged metal flap at the top, this flap has a slot cut to the centre adjacent to the hinged end. This slot is of a size to allow the tongue on the stand to protrude through when the stand is inserted into the sleeve in the ground. A padlock may be place into the hole in the tongue, thus locking the stand to the sleeve.

2.

The hinged metal flap, when the stand is removed from the sleeve, returns to a horizontal position, thus covering the top of the sleeve. To assist the metal flap to
return to the horizontal position, a fixed rubber block at the heel of the hinged end of the flap, stops the flap from remaining in the vertical position.

Stand Carrying and Storage Holder (optional):

The carrying and storage holder is designed to fit to the wheelie bin, for transport and storage of the wheelie bin stand. The holder is a sleeve into which this stand is inserted. The sleeve is attached to the front lower section of the wheelie bin by an adjustable bracket which slides onto the sleeve. This bracket is retained by two bullet head bolts and nuts; the base of the holder is retained by one bullet head bolt and nut.

The improved stand is constructed of galvanized steel. Aluminium or stainless steel may also be used, the flexible section is of a galvanized steel compression spring, other products may be used such as urethane or rubber.

The invention may be better understood with reference to the illustrations of embodiments of the invention which:-

Figure 2. is the elevation of the option stand carrying and storage holder.

Figure 3. is a front view of the stand inserted into the retaining sleeve in the ground.

Figure 4. is a side view of the stand inserted into the retaining sleeve and the locking device.

The Wheelie Bin Stand is a steel RHS post 1 5 with a shaped tubing section 26 the top of this tubing section has a grip handle 7 there isthis has an attached steel rod bin retaining hook 83 designed for easy placement of the bin handle. The post has a flexible section 9, steel spring or urethan, this flexible section is attached and secured to the post by a bolt 10 and nut 11. 4 The post has holes 12 5 at specified positions which are to locate the bin height collar 13 The collar has a locking tongue14 welded to it it 7 this tongue has a hole 15 for a padlock, a clevis pin 8. A bolt and nut16 an “R” clip Humpback17 secures this collar. This post is inserted into a steel RHS sleeve 18 the10 this sleeve has an angled end 1911 for easy installation into the ground earth. The top of the sleeve has a metal hinged flap 20 12 which locks the post onto the sleeve 13 this flap has a rubber block 21 at the heel to assist closing the flap, and when closed it prevents debris from entering the sleeve when the post is removed. 14 The stand has an optional carrying and storage holder 2215 with adjustable sliding bracket 2316 withand bolt holes 24 the carrier is attached to the bin with backing plates 25 by bolts 26 and nuts 27 17
