Apparatus to fabricate thick rigid thermoplastic panels
[Category : - Construction Processes & Equipment]
[Viewed 1756 times]
The process is split into two steps: a) off line production of thin tapes (often fiber reinforced to enhance rigidity) wounded on bobbins. b) face welding more tapes, in a fashion which mimics laminated timber.
This system makes possible first time to use also recycled plastics to fabricate panels or beams to be used in structural applications.
The issues of the conventional extrusion are many:
1. To extrude a thick profile is always a problem due to the natural sagging of the molten profile when passing from the extrusion die to the calibration.
2. Usually when the profile has a thick section, gas bubbles form in the core due to humidity or gas residues. Since the extrudate is never subject to external pressure when shaped, it always undergo expansion due to the vacuum cooling. Both inner bubble formation and lack of consolidation pressure bring to pieces which show reduced mechanical strength, making such profiles, in most cases, unsuitable for structural applications.
-Neither issue 1 or 2 affect Plystock as it has the consistency of a calendered sheet.
-The laminate structure makes possible to structure the layers according to the application needs.
-The production speed is increased up to and more than 100 times more when compared to the conventional process. This is due to the high speed line of both tapes production (calendering speed) as well as tapes face welding.
Very rigid and multiple directions oriented fiber tapes can be produced by the company's patented process Nexxus.
Financial informationWe are looking for exclusive manufacturing license in US, with minimal royalty (e.g 0.1 USD/Kg), for a 10 years term.
The application has been filed recently.
We can supply samples according to the main targeted applications
This is the first time we are discussing with USA.
There is no visibile competition with common plastics rather with wood. In genetral only WPC can compete with timber. But we are much competitive with WPC.
Potential market we see is:
- civil construction (scaffold boards, I-beams, formwork etc)
- thermoformable indoor panel for automotive
- railway sleepers
- robust and WPC competitive flooring and gardening
- etc
- Sales are free provided than inside US
- To complete the scenario we have also the patent pending technology to produce very rigid tapes reinforced with long chopped fibers. This technology, called NEXXUS, can be simply applied downstream a standard extruder.
