Background
Box Culvert is the civil structure used during construction of road in cross drainage work, as Underpasses and other applications also. Presently the Box culvert structure is constructed by the conventional method by using shuttering plates of different sizes and its supporting members for the shuttering. After the completion of the shuttering the concrete is poured and it is left to 7 days achieve the strength of concrete strengthen for deshuttering, it takes about a more than a month’s time to complete all these activities for construction of complete box culvert, therefore a faster method for the construction of the Box culvert is required.
I make a Trolley for Box Culvert, it contains shuttering plate Hydraulic pump, Hydraulic Jack, Tyre etc. Its arrangement so that thus placed in stretching position with 100 mm less than its designated extended and
stretched length. At the concreting location, after that the button of the hydraulic pump of the jack is
pushed to make the hydraulic pressure initiated which will stretch and expand the shuttering plates and
the members to the designated size. After this a rod is extended as shown in the figure to fix the outer
shutter . For fixing of outer shutter we put the pins in the designated holes. All these activities are
carried out in just three to four hours instead of more than a month’s time. When the shuttering is
done ,now the concrete is put which is supplied by the Transit Mixer . After completion of two days from
the concreting day , the pressure in the hydraulic jack is released so that stretching is done by 100 mm
in both the direction that is vertical and horizontal. A gap is left in three directions both side wall and
Top slab . Now the trolley is moved in the new location and the length of the Culvert is covered by
repeating the same exercise. The trolley has two tires and it can easily move 60 Km per day.
