Joint Mechanism For Articulated Buses

[Category : - Automotive Accessories - Motors]
[Viewed 2545 times]

The Owner has developed and produced a product in the form of a joint mechanism. This joint mechanism (3) unites two vehicles or parts of a vehicle, such as an articulated bus. The joint mechanism includes two crossed link arms (4, 5), each one of which is linked at a first end to a first vehicle or part of a vehicle (1). The link arms at their second ends are linked to a second vehicle or part of a vehicle (2). The product has a damping part (6 & 7) in order to give a damping effect where each of the links has a longitudinal cavity with surrounding material that includes a cross-sectional area, where the area of the surrounding material in cross-section is less than the area of the cavity in the cross-section, preferably half of its magnitude or less, and even more preferably one third of its magnitude or less.
This contributes to making it possible to manufacture the joint mechanism in very lightweight design, with low consumption of material and minimal impact on the environment.
Further preferred properties are that each one of the link arms includes an upper extended profile with a principally U-shaped cross-section and a lower extended profile with a principally U-shaped cross-section, which upper and lower profiles are arranged with their open sides facing each other such that there is formed a surrounding cross-section with a longitudinal inner cavity with two opposing and longitudinal welds at which the U-profiles meet. This leads to the link arms being very strong and being able to withstand high axle pressures and loads.
