The intent of this short letter is to open a dialog concerning the above cited invention with your engineering staff. As the patent docs are lengthy, I have summarized the invention with four enclosed sketches and a short written objective and summary.
OBJECTIVE: With relatively simple modifications to the reciprocating piston and piston rod employed in most air spring assemblies, this invention will cause the normal operation of the air spring to automatically maintain the optimum design pressure in the pre-charge chamber.
SUMMARY: Loss of pressure in the precharge chamber of a typical air spring assembly is probably the number one problem facing the use of air springs. The cited invention will both establish and maintain the optimum design compressed air pressure in a typical air spring’s pre-charge chamber. As indicated on the attached sketches, this goal is accomplished without tools or disassembly by the user. Standard operation of the air spring performs this function automatically without adversely affecting the required performance of the air spring, its physical size nor add appreciably to its overall weight.
