IAMPS: muscle activation to prevent injury in car crashes
[Category : - OTHER- Automotive Accessories - HEALTH]
[Viewed 227 times]
New cars have advanced safety systems, such as,rneffective airbags. They also have advanced techniques for automatic breaking and self-driving features.rnIAMPS includes driver´s and passenger´s own muscles in the safety systems. IAMPS was invented by: HåkanrnWesterblad, professor in Cellular Muscle Physiology, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm; Anders Eriksson, rnprofessor in Structural Mechanics, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm. IAMPS builds upon thernfinding that neck muscles can be pre-activated by sound stimuli with a delay of only 0.3 s. In this way, headrnmovements in upcoming collision can be minimized. IAMPS is based on systems that already exist in modernrncars: sensors that provide input from the environment, for instance, distance to other cars, and can sendrnsignals before an expected collision; sound and loudspeaker systems that can be programmed to providernstimuli that pre-activates neck muscles in a direction- and time-specific manner.
Financial informationWe are looking for an outright sale but are happy to assist with our knowledge in future developments etc.
The market potential of our invention is large - it could be implemented in all new cars.
