Sanitising Door Handle
[Category : - DESIGN PATENTS]
[Viewed 331 times]
My name is Vince Lacey, founder of Lacey’s Hygiene Excellence and I have designed and developed a sanitising door handle that will fit all doors, existing and new. This handle will prevent the spread of germs from hand to hand, person to person by sanitising the operator’s hand whilst opening the door.
The handle is universal and can be fitted to any door easily without any additional modifications, so there is no need to replace any of the existing door furniture. The handle can also be fitted to push/pull doors very simply. It will operate existing latches and locks.
This is an innovative solution to combat the spread of bacteria and viruses. I personally believe that the company that gets this product to market will increase their market share in
supplying products to the hygiene sector as well as hospitality, retail, health and education sectors.
Since the start of the pandemic the general public have become very aware of the importance of good hand hygiene and it has now become second nature for people to look for the sanitising units available in the setting they have entered. With this handle being
fitted to every door it could render these stand-alone units obsolete as any person using a door fitted with one of our handles will have their hands automatically sanitised for them.
The idea for the handle was born from an observation while in hospital and worried about the spread of MRSA, I noticed an incredible amount of people that used the rest rooms didn’t
wash their hands, this somewhat disgusted me thinking about the number of germs being spread around unnecessarily due to people’s lack of hygiene. It then became my obsession
to create a solution to this issue.
My background is in designing and manufacturing furniture and I used this expertise to design the handle. It has been a long journey to get where I am now, it has been a 12-year
process and during this time the handle has had major design changes and three prototypes later and we now have the finished product.
