Heat recovery ventilator HRV with significant GHG reduction
[Category : - Construction Processes & Equipment]
[Viewed 44 times]
As efforts to reduce greenhouse gases (GHG) increase, the public, politicians, and regulators are demanding further improvements in energy efficiency in residential heating/ventilation systems. The In-Line Heat Recovery Inc. solution to this increased energy efficiency requirement is an HRV that greatly improves heat recovery efficiency compared to all current heat recovery devices. Hundreds of thousands of homes are constructed every year in the target geographic areas of Canada, USA and countries of northern Europe. These countries have mandated heat recovery in building codes. In-Line patents cover all of these jurisdictions.
Specific features and benefits of the In-Line system include:
• Unlike typical systems the In-Line system does not require a defrost cycle during cold weather operation and does not require any interruption of the incoming fresh air stream. Avoiding the losses associated with defrosting cycle time significantly improves the overall energy efficiency.
• The In-Line system does not require complex flaps or damper components resulting in reduced size and weight compared to current heat recovery systems.
• The In-Line system can function as an economizer when outdoor temperatures are suitable, for example at night. Cool fresh air with no energy transfer will reduce energy used by air conditioning systems. This function is currently not available with current products.
• The In-Line system reduces water consumption for humidification by recovering a significant amount of moisture from outgoing air during heating seasons. This feature is generally not available with products currently on the market.
• Because exhaust air is never recirculated, heat can be recovered from kitchen, bathroom, and clothes dryers. Competitor systems that recirculate exhaust air when defrosting cannot recover energy exhausted from kitchen, bathroom, and clothes dryers without risking contamination in the exhaust air.
Financial informationHundreds of thousands of new homes are built each year in the target market geographic areas. HRV units are mandated by building codes.
A prototype that has demonstrated the improved efficiency has been built and tested. A significant amount of test data has been accumulated and is available for review.
The prototype was designed to fit into a single floor joist spacing, making it space efficient for residential construction.
At manufacturing scale, units based on the prototype could be built for the same or lower cost of current devices,
All three patents are for sale or license.
These patents have not previously been offered for sale or license.
The patents are owned by a registered limited company which could be purchased in its entirety, simplifying the patent sales.
