The “Standby” system has caused a huge contradiction, by making life easier for users it has created an unprecedented energy problem. Electronic devices, once turned off, continue to consume energy to keep the receiver and other circuits running, feeding on energy that is only used to detect the remote control, so all the energy is wasted.

During a year, the Standby could have consumed more energy in standby mode than during the time the device is connected.
