For a canoe or kayak type of boats, a paddle/oar would completly eliminate the swing of an oar/paddle, instead of taking the oar/paddle out of the water with each stroke and doing a full semicircle swing, the product will remain submerged the entire time and use a forward and reverse motion all while remaining submerged. When pushing the oar will close creating a sleek and thin paddle that would slice through the water easily and when pulling it then it will open and create drag propelling the boat forward and by simply twisting the paddle you are now going the other direction with ease.
