Every year billions of dollars are spend remediating water damage from broken, leaking or frozen pipes. This device eliminates water damage from leaking pipes / fixtures in a manner that is fail safe and not reliant on a motor. Key mechanism in this patent is the fail safe feature where an electro magnet holds the valve open, upon signal the magnet releases closing the valve...no failed motor, no maintenance. The idea is to operate similar to fail safe fire doors operated by magnets, if there is a massive power outage, once battery life ends the device will fail safe ...so a major freeze that kills power to a building, the device would inherently protect the building from frozen pipes by automatically closing with loss of power to the electromagnet. This is idea for institutional use, multi family residential, single family residential....even agriculture for a remote livestock water basin... if a line breaks it might be weeks before you know. This device could be installed with solar power to both stop a leak and notify by cellular integration of the issue.

An integrated fluid flow apparatus for managing the flow of a fluid through a conduit, includes a flow sensor configured to determine a velocity of a fluid flowing through the conduit. The apparatus includes a valve assembly positioned inline with the conduit that is movable between open and closed configurations. An electromagnet is selectively energized by a power source and situated proximate the valve assembly. A closure assembly is operatively coupled to the valve assembly and is magnetically connected to the electromagnet. The closure assembly holds the valve assembly to the open configuration when also magnetically connected to the electromagnet and moves the valve assembly to the closed configuration when the magnetic coupling is released. The apparatus includes a communications module that communicate with a homeowner or resident concerning water velocity, temperature, seismic activity, that the valve has been closed, and to solicit instructions on selected actions.
