Stamp Spiral Perf Gauge
[Category : - OTHER]
[Viewed 341 times]
Stamp collecting is a serious hobby with over sixty million active collectors worldwide. Many now are investors, wanting the high value items, which increase in value faster than most stamps. Some stamps were made with a different perforation gauge from the majority of that issue and these become known as perforation variants, which have a high value to collectors and investors alike.
To spot a perforation variant requires the use of a gauge and although there are several on the market, they are generally large and awkward to use. This invention wraps the linear gauge into a circle and by placing the gauge on a stamp and twisting it around it's axis can reveal the perforation measure with better speed and accuracy.
The gauge is relatively low cost to produce and sells with a good margin. It will appeal to those who resell stamp accessories, those who make printed plastic parts or those who want to provide a mail order business online.
Financial informationNow that I have mastered the art of small scale production, having made a run of around 500 for the launch at York Stamp Fair on July 21st and 22nd, I can confidently predict these can be made for less than £3 a piece and I am aiming for a resale price of around £10 - the norm for a standard perf gauge. The product may well prove to stand some premium pricing, as it is a premium product and production costs would fall for larger volumes.
I am not a greedy inventor, but would like any potential buyer to:
a) Cover my cost of development.
b) Pay a royalty on sales - rate to be discussed, but in line with market norms.
