This idea might eventually become an very necessary feature for autonomous driving on the open street, e.g., for the coming L3 ADAS.

The problem to be solved by this idea is such "dead angles" for currently released ADAS: please find this in the video demo we prepared from this Youtube link: Link (No bloody footage is included, please feel free to watch) , or see the “demonstration” as enclosed.

These accidents seem unsolvable under current ADAS solutions. Because pedestrians may cross the road inappropriately, while a side vehicle may block your vehicle’s view, causing the pedestrians suddenly rush out from the lateral blind area of your vehicle and collision you’re your vehicle.

Fortunately. This idea can amazingly solve these “unsolvable” accidents only based on the current developed L2 ADAS system, by taking safety action before the dangerous object appears. This idea does not need any external assisting device and does not need any interconnection communications between vehicles.

The system of the idea is temporarily named PACAS (Pre-Action Collision Avoidance System). If the L3 ADAS on open streets becomes popular in future, this system may be as necessary as current CAS anti-collision warning systems in the market.

The general concept of this idea is: if a lateral vehicle causes a blind spot for your vehicle (the host vehicle), making your vehicle to monitor a matching level between the lateral vehicle's movement characteristics and its environment that can be observed by your vehicle. For example, if the lateral vehicle slows down significantly, while an obstructive object in front of it (for example, a front vehicle or other obstacles) is still far away, your vehicle may take a safe action. The idea also contains considerable sub-solutions, such as monitoring whether the lateral vehicle doesn’t move or even braking while the traffic light for it turns to green, or whether lateral vehicle is normally following a front vehicle in the queue.
