A system and a method for actuating transmittal of a distress signal from a communications device (1). Said system comprises: an initiating unit (2) deployed at a location where intrusion is likely to occur, which comprises: a means (3) for sensing vibration (4) triggered by an intrusive action; and an antenna (5) for transmitting, upon sensing the vibration (4), a control signal; and a central unit (3) deployed at a location distanced from the initiating unit (2), comprising: an antenna (7) for receiving the control signal; and a means (8) for actuating the transmittal, upon receiving the control signal. (Fig. 1)
