An insemination device includes: (i) an elongate body (12) in the shape of a penis; (ii) a reservoir (14) for storing semen, which reservoir is disposed within the body; (iii) an outlet (22) from the reservoir (14) at or near a first axial end of the body; (iv) means for discharging semen (16) from the reservoir via the outlet (22); and (iv) a limiter (17) that extends radially from the body (12), the limiter (17) being secured to, and slidably movable along the body. In use, the limiter can be adjusted to limit the depth to which the body can be inserted into the vagina of an animal, such as a dog.
