Retallick Boom Tent
[Category : - Boating]
[Viewed 1011 times]
The Retallick Boom tent is designed with the live-aboard boater in mind, but is useful for people who want access to their boat year-round without having to disassemble their boat cover.
The tent was designed to be a universal design with manufacturing ease in mind. There are only 3 measurements required; Length of boom, Beam of vessel, and location of doors. Everything else is designed to be universally adapted and easy.
An internal securing system includes bungee cords, a hook and clamp system that allows for a custom fit for most deck configurations and easy adaptation to changing needs. A zippered door on both the port and starboard sides for easy access to the cockpit and main hatch of a sailboat. The tent also has weighted pockets along the bottom of a curtain that hangs from the safety lines to below the gunwale to add security from strong winds and customization. Forward, the tent has common-sense fasteners and flaps that allow the stays to pass through the fabric without losing tensile strength for added protection and security.
What separates this design from others on the market is that it's design provides protection and easy access. It can be customized and adjusted to weather conditions in your part of the world. The curtain provides the protection from rain and elements but allows for movement from hard winds to prevent unwanted movement.
The prototype lasted 3 years in the Pacific Northwest of the US with extremes in weather conditions. Snow, ample rain, sunlight, and 50 mph (43 kt) sustained and 62 mph (53+ kt) gusts.
I can direct in all aspects of manufacturing as I was ready to begin manufacturing before Covid
