Continuously variable transmission for heavy duty vehicles
[Category : - MECHANICAL ENGINEERING]
[Viewed 643 times]
A continuously variable transmission for heavy duty vehicles, in which the classic hydraulic torque converter is permanently removed, comprising at least two planetary gear assemblies; a hydraulic pump, used as a gradual brake; a hydro-mechanical device for transforming the torque generated by the drive engine of the vehicle into a variable torque; a hydraulic regulator to control all torque variations in the hydro-mechanical device; a reverse drive mechanism that controls a forward or reverse movement of the vehicle; and a freewheel that allows for a transmission of a different variable gear ratios from the drive engine of the vehicle to at least one of the driving wheels or caterpillars.
The present transmission is also especially suitable for FULLY ELECTRIC VEHICLES allowing to increase the torque at low speeds to accommodate heavier vehicles and loads. This eliminates the need for electric vehicles engineers to find a "sweet spot" compromise between torque and speed in such a way that the surplus cost of a CVT is recovered within the power train by lowering the cost of electric components, cooling system and battery..
If compared to current CVT which includes: belt type, toroidal type and others, in which the transmission of torque is limited only to light vehicles, this new transmission provides the transmission of the higher torque to move heavy duty vehicles, ex. trucks, buses, tractors, battle tanks, agricultural tractors. in which the manufacturing process is highly competitive in cost of production, lower weight and lower volume.
By coupling this new transmission to fully electric vehicles, the reverse mechanism can be removed, taking into account that electric motors can rotate in the opposite direction for less weight, less volume and additional reduction of the cost..
This new technology provides a durable resistance against braking and wear especially when installed in heavy duty vehicles..
Financial informationI am looking for a licensing with royalties.
