This invention uses a blockchain cryptocurrency address (e.g., bitcoin) to lock an online account. The claims (see below) are extremely broad and cover the idea of unlocking an account when the balance of the cryptocurrency address is reduced. Only the owner of the cryptocurrency address can reduce the balance and therefore only the owner of the cryptocurrency address can unlock an online account.

However this idea is better than the Lightning protocol because each login event is recorded on the blockchain. With the Lightning protocol, a transaction is not completed and therefore nothing is recorded on the blockchain. Recording the transaction on the blockchain creates the critically important audit trail.
