The present invention relates to an innovative hybrid control technique, which uses both continuous and discrete dynamics in order to adjust the position of an exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR) in a diesel internal combustion engine. Thanks to this new technique, greater dynamic precision is obtained and consequently the reduction of polluting emissions.
