A self-leveling laser divider incorporates a self-leveling laser projection unit that is capable of being secured upon a tripod. The laser projection unit can selectively project a user selected number divisions on to a chosen surface (wall or ceiling) to aid in layout for items such as: pictures, shelves, or curtain rods on walls, and recess lights on ceilings. The unit can also provide area information for painting or wall coverings.
