USB charger attaching to and leaching power from another device.
[Category : - ELECTRONICS- Computers and computer accessories - Telecommunications]
[Viewed 705 times]
A USB charging port that attaches to a lamp cord and leaches power from the cord to power the unit. The unit is affixed in a manner to make it a permanent attachment. By attaching to an existing electrical device it allows a person to retrofit an existing lamp, alarm clock, etc. to include a USB charging port. This allows the charging port to be more conveniently located and not use limited or inconveniently located electrical sockets. The unit taps into the power being supplied to the electrical device by use of contact blades that puncture the cord (this is why it is a permanent attachment). The contact blades are of the type typically used in Gilbert plugs, rolling thumb switches, or replacement socket ends, etc. This is an issued, active patent.
