The Plow Alert Light System alerts the Ryder of the blade height to prevent over-raising and causing damage to the winch cable, plow attachments and repeatedly over-stressing the winch.
A sensor and light kit is easily installed on the plow or other implement and can be adjusted to signal a light at a predetermined distance.
Many people today use their ATV's and UTV's for snow removal. The winch, installed on the front of the vehicle, provides a lift mechanism for raising and lowering the plow blade. A long standing problem exists where the operator does not know when to stop the raise function on the winch control. With minimal distances between the plow assembly and the vehicle, the force of the winch can quickly damage the winch line and other mechanisms associated with plow and vehicle.
The Detection and Alert System solves this problem by providing a visual indicator, to the operator, the distance between the plow assembly and the vehicle. The indicator, as used today, is a red light quickly and easily attached to the forward end of the vehicle and easily seen by the operator. The indicator can be provided in different forms, for example a gauge could be used to measure and display actual distance from the ground and or the vehicle.
Another system used today is an auto-stop mechanism designed to terminate the power to the winch at a certain height. This system is more costly and involves a more complex and difficult installation.
The Detection and Alert System is easy to use and easy to install. It puts the operator in control and does not rely on a system that could wear out prematurely or fail from repeated lifts during the plowing operation.
