A process for manufacturing a mustard oil derived hard surface cleaner is disclosed. It comprises of the following steps::
(a) mixing mustard oil, alcohol and a metallic salt in a given ratio in excess of water,
(b) heating the mixture with stirring at a temperature between 50-110°C and at pressure of 10-25 psi for about an hour,
(c) adding ammonium salt and sodium sulphate of lauric acid to the reaction mixture in a given ratio.
(d) heating the reaction mixture at 50-100°C for another hour with addition of water,
The mixture thus produced is agitated with air and turned into a consistent gel that acts as an efficient hard surface cleaner..
