INCREASE WIND VELOCITY IN WIND TURBINE ENERGY GENERATION

[Category : - RENEWABLE ENERGY]
[Viewed 1405 times]

This invention is an apparatus for increasing wind speed to provide more efficient electrical generation. Typically, wind generators use large horizontal or vertical rotors to generate electricity. The design of the rotor will increase the speed faster than the speed of the wind and increase power generated. Generators of this type are, however, inefficient for space and are noisy. They are, moreover, unsatisfactory for urban mounting, because of the tall support structure required to take advantage of the high wind and the noisy rotors.

These disadvantages may be overcome by providing a venturi roof-top design to increase the speed of wind by converting the pressure energy into kinetic energy. A net force will act to accelerate the air as it enters the throat of the venturi. With the reduction in the throat of the Venturi tube the air speed increases proportionally.

The venturi wind generator will take advantage of the wind along the roof top, providing for the use of low profile vertical axis rotors eliminating noisy and unsightly large horizontal rotor generators. The vertical axis rotors are designed to capture the wind and force the generator to rotate with higher efficiency and allow wind to pass around on the return cycle of the rotation.

Financial information

We are looking to sell or license the patent. This invention is ideal for new home markets as the product costs can be amortized of the life of the house while saving money on electrical bills.

This invention can be combined with solar energy and grid dependent inverter to lower $/W-hr costs. This is ideal for a micro-generation station where energy can be sold back to the electrical network.
