Over and Under- A new casino type table game

[Category : - OTHER]
[Viewed 1821 times]

This patent covers a new and unique way to play the popular card game Acey Deucey ( aka Red Dog, In Between, or Between The Sheets). The primary innovation in this method of play from all previous versions of Acey Deucey is that players are allowed the opportunity to strategically arrange their cards during game play to maximize their chances of winning whereas in all previous versions of Acey Deucey the outcome of the game was merely a result of the random distribution of the playing cards ( ie luck). The introduction of the element of player strategy in a game previously based on luck dramatically increases player appeal since most players believe they have the skills necessary to "beat the game" over time.

This innovation is made possible because players play 2 hands at a time. A standard 52 card poker deck is used and cards have the same value as in poker except Aces are always high. The game is played as follows:

1. The player places equal bets on the Base hand and the High Value hand.
2.The player is dealt 3 cards.
3.The player now decides how to allocate their 3 cards between their 2 hands.(this is the key innovation in this method of play from all previous versions of Acey Deucey). The player picks any two of their cards to play together on either of their hands and places the third card on their other hand.
4. The player is dealt one more card to complete their partial hand.
5. The dealer will receive and reveal one card.
6. The results of each of the players hands is determined separately. A hand wins if the dealers card falls between the 2 cards in the players hand. All wins on the Base hand pay 1:1 whereas wins on the High Value hand pay as much as 50:1.

We have designed 3 separate pay tables for the High Value hand, all of which have been verified by certified professional organizations. One table is summarized below to demonstrate the concept underlying the High Value hand payouts:
Players Hand Pays
Ace-Queen suited 50:1
Ace-Queen unsuited 15:1
2-4 suited 20:1
2-4 unsuited 6:1
Any 2 suited cards with 1 card gap 10:1
Any 2 unsuited cards with 1 card gap 4:1
Any 2 suited cards with 2 card gap 5:1
Any 2 unsuited cards with 2 card gap 2:1
Any win with 2 suited cards 2:1
Any win with 2 unsuited cards 1:1

As demonstrated above the value of a winning hand on the High Value hand increases if the gap between the players 2 cards is small and increases further if the players 2 cards are suited.

When players decide how to allocate their 3 cards between their two hands, they often have to compare the basic goal of having the largest possible gap between the 2 cards in each of their hands with the high risk/high return opportunity offered by the High Value hand pay table. Its is precisely these alternative opportunities that players must consider when deciding how to play their initial 3 cards that peaks players interest in the game and provides the player with an exciting intellectual challenge.

In addition to the above base game we have designed several side bet options and a player raise option.

Financial information

My preference is to license this game content to a qualified party that falls into one or more of the following categories:
A) someone who is involved in and/or has significant contacts in the casino gaming industry and has extensive specific knowledge of table game operations.
B) someone who is involved in and/or has significant contacts in the online casino gambling or social gaming website industry
C) someone who is involved in and/or has significant contacts in the software/application design industry and is interested in developing and marketing gaming content to online website gaming providers.
I will offer any licensee, as a part of the licensing agreement, a buyout option based on specific agreed upon condition.

I will also consider an outright sale of all rights and obligations under the patent as well as all related material designed to date including all math evaluations and certified reports, all felts (table layouts), all rack cards ( player instruction cards typically found on new casino table games) and marketing leads developed to date.
LEGAL UPDATE: On 3/10/16 the Court of Appeals in re: Smith upheld a patent office decision to deny a patent on grounds that make obtaining future patents on card games very difficult which we believe makes this patent more valuable.
