Archery training aid. Reproduces correct posture and positioning

[Category : - OTHER]
[Viewed 1473 times]

The role of this training aid is to maintain posture and head position of the archer whilst shooting and is a lightweight aluminium, adjustable mechanism that attaches to the archer by the use of a strapping system. rnThe aid has 3 touch points: The head, upper and mid back and lower back on the sacroiliac area. The idea being that when set to the archers required position for shooting this position can time and again be reproduced by the archer by simply touching on these 3 points, creating a consistent shooting position. As you are well aware an archer is continuously trying to achieve a solid straight line position with no forward head movement or shoulder raising of the bow arm, whilst maintaining a level elbow to shoulder of the string arm and opening up as they pull back. This aid achieves all this and allows the archer to use the necessary muscles involved in holding and drawing the bow to their strongest and most contractible ability. rnThis training aid has also been tested at the University of Chichester using electromyography to measure muscle activity and 3 dimensional kinematics (fast speed cameras) to measure movement stability. These trials were conducted on both a novice to archery and an experienced GB team archer. The results were very favourable to the aid reducing head, shoulder and torso movement, while increasing muscle contraction power yet reducing the effort required to contract these muscles, which for an archer means less tireing of these muscles over a sustained period of shooting. rnI have also had numerous field trials with all types of archers, from young children, beginners, intermediates and experienced archers.rnTheir body positions were straighter, elbow, shoulder and head positions were steadier and held in correct positions and they stated that it felt easier to pull to their release position and they felt more secure and found it easier to achieve this better, stronger correct alignment. rn
