Ancillary data (51) is be used to reduce collisions (garble) and speed up authentication when making an inventory of transponder tags (e.g. RFID), for instance at a shop check-out. The ancillary data is not a permanent identity, and preferably not a password, encryption key or other security data, but is associated with the identity. An interrogation signal is generated from ancillary data relating to the transponder tags, the ancillary data in the interrogation signal being such that a subgroup of the transponder tags comprising some, but not all, of the transponder tags responds to the interrogation signal. The interrogation signal is transmitted to the transponder tags. The process is repeated with a further subgroup of the transponder tags, tags that have already responded remaining silent, and is continued until all the transponder tags of the group have been interrogated.; Rarely encountered ancillary data is used first. Ancillary data includes colour, temperature, weight, size, historical data and many other things, data in a transponder reply, a temporary identity or combinations of these.
Financial informationThe patent family includes patents been granted in UK and some patent applications for Europe, China and Japan. Please send your bid by email. Bids will be accepted until the 30 June 2017 midnight UK time. The owner reserves the right to refuse bids that, in its sole view, do not reflect the real value of the patent.
With this patent family we are also offering a GB&PCT patent application with a further invention that complement the listing of transponders. The abstract is:
Abstract
A method of interoperating sensing devices and mobile devices to enable mobile devices to act upon physical events detected by sensing devices, the method comprising:
a sensing device 3 detecting a physical event 1 through sensor 2;
using speaker 4, said sensing device 3 broadcasting a representation of said physical event 1 using a data audio signal 5 for its reception by a nearby mobile device 6 through its microphone 7;
said nearby mobile device 6 interpreting and using said data audio signal 5 to:
A. establish distance 9 to said sensing device 3;
B. register said physical event 1 in database 8;
C. offer services to its carrier 10 by means of a user interface 11; and/or
D. generate and, using speaker 14, broadcast a command audio signal 15 to be captured by microphone 16 of said sensing device 3 to activate actuator 17 and produce further physical event 18.
