APPLICATION NUMBER: US 62/197.006 (PATENT PENDING)
APPLICATION DATE: 7/15/2015
TITLE: DOOR WITH BENDABLE CORNER (FOR SAFETY)
FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention is related to a door design that has a bendable portion, especially the corner that can bend when the door hit human foot.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
When people open a door, he or she often stands in front of the door. If for some reason, the door is opened quickly by another people on the opposite side of the door, it is possible that the door hit his / her foot.
SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM
To protect the foot from being injured by door, the corner (or part of the door) can be made bendable.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
As shown in figure 1, the door has door knob 1, window 2, door hinge 3 and bendable corner 4.
Figure 2 shows how the bendable corner 4 is connected with door by spring hinges 5.
When a person tries to open the door, he/she would probably grab the door knob and pull the door open toward himself /herself. The person has to position his/her feet to avoid the door to get in contact of his/her feet. However, at this moment, if the door is thrust open by another person (for example an excited child ) from the other side of the door, the corner of the door may hit on the person’s feet. The foot, especially the toe could be severely injured.
To protect feet from being injured by fast opened door, the corner of (or part of ) the door can be made bendable as shown in figure 1 and figure 2. The bendable corner 4 will bend away from human foot when human foot is in contact with the corner of the door as shown in figure 4 and picture 2. The bendable corner 4 is connected to the door by a device (for example a spring hinge 5 shown in figure 2), which can bend away from human foot when in contact with foot. This device ( For example, spring hinge 5 shown in figure 2) can also force the bendable corner 4 back to the original position when foot is not in contact with door as shown in figure 3 and Picture 1.
The bendable corner 4 as shown in Figure 1 could either be triangle, square or other shape. It is connected with the door with a device (for example, a spring hinge 5 as shown in Figure 2), which can force the bendable corner back to normal position when the door is not in contact with human foot.
The bendable corner 4 can be made such that it can bend in one direction or in two directions.
The bendable corner 4 can be located inside the door so that it is not observable from outside.
