A SLIDING LID TO BE USED WITH COMMODE BOWL

The problem I intend to solve is problems associated with the present bowl and lid used. The one in use today has a closed lid handle, positioned on top of the lid. I have observed users finding it difficult to grasp the handle as many have problems with their hands/fingers due to conditions such as arthritis. Carers and nurses use latex/plastic gloves while carrying out their job; these gloves often are wet which causes the grasp difficult for them also. The interior and rim of the bowl it self when wet causes the lid to 'stick' to the inner rim in which the lid sits when not in use to produce a suction affect so again makes removal difficult. My new patent is intended to combat the above problems which I have observed. The lid will slid outwards to open and slid inwards to close, rather than lifted upwards for removal as is used today. Changes have been made to the lid and bowl. Runners can be used for the commode bowl or the commode bowl can be dropped into a metal frame. With these set ups there will need to be modifications made to the frame to accommodate the bowl and lid removal.

Claim 1

A commode bowl comprising a bowl and a sliding lid, the bowl having a flat base and a continuous upstanding wall around a periphery of the base, the wall having an upper edge and a rim located on the upper edge of the wall, the rim extending outwards past the wall on an axis parallel to the base, the rim extending only partially around the wall and is configured to co-operate with the lid in a sliding manner to allow the lid to move from a closed position to an open position, the lid having an upper surface and a lower surface and a curved part which extends downwardly from the lower surface towards the base and which matingly co-operates with a corresponding part of the upstanding wall when the lid is in the closed position.

Claim 2

The commode bowl of claim 1 comprising a shaped pouring section.

Claim 3

The commode bowl of claim 1 comprising a stand for the commode which allows the lid to open and close.

Claim 4

The commode bowl of claim 1 may comprise a square, rectangular, round or oval shape.
