Coaxial / Heliax Copper Cable Stripper

[Category : - OTHER- Tools]
[Viewed 2555 times]

I designed a portable, motorized tool that slices thru coaxial cabling exposing the copper inside. This type of cabling is used on tall cellular towers. The cabling is manufactured by Andrew / Commscope model # AVA 7 and or LDF 7 this cable measures approximate 2" outer diameter. This cable is used for lengths of 100' to 400'. The cellular carriers are replacing this type of cabling with a cabling that has fiber inside, this new hybrid cabling provides more capacity and less tower loading.

These cables have a Polyethylene outer jacket, then a corrugated copper sheathing, then a Polyethylene foam surrounding a hollow copper center conductor, 2.6' of this cable stripped gives you approximately 1lb of copper.

You insert one end of the cabling into the tool and it pulls the coax thru the tool, as the cabling passes thru the housing there are cutting blades that slices the cabling to expose the copper inside of the cabling for harvesting.

Currently recycling facilities pay a dirty copper price for the cabling in whole, after using the tool you will have #1 copper and a much higher premium price, on average a 200% increase in price.

You can also recycle the Polyethylene black jacket and the interior foam.

Financial information

I am looking to sell this tool. I have not sold any units, but I've used it locally to harvest the copper from deconstructed coax from several towers.

This type of cabling is used worldwide.
