Selectively Activated Injectable Drug Delivery System
[Category : - HEALTH]
[Viewed 1875 times]
Novel gel forming methacrylic blocking copolymers that exhibit cationic pH-sensitive behavior as well as good water solubility. The copolymers are constructed by polymerization of a tertiary amine methacrylate with either a (poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(propylene oxide)-b-poly(ethylene oxide) polymer, such as the commercially available Pluronic(R) polymers, or a poly(ethylene glycol)methyl ether polymer. The polymers are injectable due to their high degree of solubility, selectively activated, and can carry a wide variety of payloads. They may be used for drug and gene delivery, protein separation, and as structural supplements.
